The lighting scheme of this aquatic area within Futuroscope creates the illusion of diving into a fantastic underwater environment, while ensuring safe circulation and good visibility of the attraction access areas.

We analysed the characteristics of underwater lighting effects in different diving environments to define the principles, light directions, typologies and colour palettes to be used to simulate the ambiance of an aquatic world.

Ceiling-mounted spotlights with narrow beams create grazing accents on the rocks, shifting through shades from blue to cyan, in a slow animation that suggests the gentle motion of the sea. Very narrow beams of light create strong pools of light on the floor, reminiscent of the rays of light produced by the waves. In hollows and lower areas, to create effects of volume and contrast and to warm up the atmosphere, we use purple and lavender tones, inspired by underwater flora and fauna.

This dynamic lighting and colour palette are also applied to the ETFE-made façade surrounding the central area of the attraction, creating an enveloping, ethereal effect around the stairs and platforms leading to the various waterslides entrances. This ETFE, illuminated from the inside, also shines at night, making this tower of light the attraction's beacon in the park.

The other façades and the entrance canopy are lit by precisely positioned projectors to reveal the building's geometry and create dazzling reflections on the metal cladding. The light from these spotlights is subtly coloured to accentuate and sublimate the tones of the cladding of the different volumes, each expressing a particular interior theme.
