The collaboration with the Studio d'Urbanisme Jean-Pierre Majot began with the creation of lighting masterplans for the following communes of Brussels: Schaerbeek, Etterbeek, Evere, Uccle and Forest. We were in charge for sketching out the lighting schemes for the major urban sites and the illuminations of the main heritage sites in each municipality.
Some of the sketches have given rise to lighting projects that we have subsequently developed, such as the Hôtel Communal in Schaerbeek and the Sainte-Marie Church, or the Place de l'Altitude 100. Other recent developments have taken the recommendations into account, such as the Place Jourdan in Etterbeek and the Place Saint-Vincent in Evere. We can also see the gradual implementation of the typologies developed for Uccle's streets, in particular with the respect to the recommendations to avoid light pollution in the vicinity of the municipality's many green and natural areas.
However, these achievements only partially reveal the extent of the work carried out, as many of the sketches and lighting simulations will remain in the drawers of the local authorities. However, this work would deserve to be presented more widely, why not as part of a publication that would certainly be entitled "Unlit Brussels"!
