The "Locutorium" project is the first stage in the renovation of Leuven's Abbey of the Park, which houses the museum that explains its history. The lighting requirements were to highlight this historic building while blending in perfectly within it, and to comply with museum lighting requirements in terms of scenography and controlling light levels to preserve the works of art.
We chose a very sober, contemporary range of suspended or wall-mounted luminaires, both technical and decorative, to blend in with the historic context and provide the desired lighting levels in the various reception and circulation areas.
The exhibition areas are lit by compact, high-performance, dimmable and low-glare spotlights mounted on suspended rails. This versatility meant that we were able to meet all the requirements of the scenographers and curators when it came to validating the lighting scheme.
